Controversy FAILS TO BOOST Pehredaar Piya Ki Viewership

For some time now, Sony’s Pehredaar Piya Ki, has been making headlines owing to its content.
Needless to say, we were expecting the show to register heightened TRPs considering it has been marred with one controversy after another, however, looks like that hasn’t helped the drama. For, in Week 32 (August 5-11), it was far from the Top 10 slot. In fact, the show received disappointing response and acquired the 44th spot.

For those who have come in late, Pehredaar Piya Ki has been receiving flak ever since its trailer dropped. The show, which is based on a romantic relationship between a 9-year-old boy and 18-year-old woman, has been accused of promoting social evils like child marriage and justifying the act of ogling and stalking women.
Soon after a few episodes aired, TV heartthrob, Karan Wahi, blasted the show’s producers for selling ‘stupidity in the name of content’.
Gaurav Gera too took a dig at the show’s content.
Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki
As makers dealt with the feedback, came in news that viewers had filed a petition asking for a ban on the show. The latest development on the front is that the officials of Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC) have decided that the show be shifted to the late night slot of 10 pm and it will run an advisory disclaimer throughout the show, saying that the show does not promote child marriage and it’s a work of fiction.
Fear Factor- Khatron Ke Khiladi
Furthermore, Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs retained its numero uno position, followed by Khatron Ke Khiladi at No. 2. This week’s surprise came in the form of Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, which was the third most-watched show.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma
Kumkum Bhagya’s spin-off Kundali Bhagya, stood at No. 4, while Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah dropped 2 positions and was at No. 5.
